Above The Line Press is a new breed independent publishing firm dedicated to making sure the message of an author's masterpiece elevates the uniqueness and helps them stand out from the crowd. We combine boutique-style service, personal support with industry knowledge and a mainstreamed process to bring publishing dreams to fruition.
Our CEO
Candace N. Ford is an entrepreneur, author, speaker, and an ordained minister who believes in producing multiple streams of income. Graduating from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy, she began work at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP as a financial auditor. Her accounting career continued with positions at various companies such as Sara Lee Corporation, Solomon Edwards Consulting, and United Airlines.
While working in the accounting field, she believed there was more for her to do to assist others. Candace had always been a writer. Even as a young girl her vivid imagination would not only cause her to read hours at a time but increased her desire to want to be an author and tell her tales of adventure, suspense, and victory.
In 2011, she self-published her first book titled, Committed 2 Commune. This was a compilation of her encouraging words to women that she began writing in 2005. Although she was ready to see her finished product in book form, available to readers worldwide, the daunting process of self-publishing nearly discouraged her. There were more questions than answers, and though the book was published, the journey was hard, long, and expensive.
Nevertheless, Candace continued to write and found herself becoming an advocate for others who desired to be published. She began to pursue online courses in graphic design, marketing, and publishing. Above The Line Press was established to service authors, teachers, poets, ministers, and the like who desired to entertain their audiences through the power of words.
In 2018, Candace became an alumnus of the Yale University Executive Leadership Program with a concentration in Publishing. She is also a recipient of the 2019 Illumination Award in Christian Fiction, for her first novel, The Agitated Agenda. This award honors and brings increased recognition to the year’s best new titles written and published with a Christian worldview. In 2020, Candace graduated with honors from Capella University with a Master’s in Business Administration.
Candace is proud to have authored over twelve books and is passionate about helping authors publish their works.
